Gutterrut was the quasit familiar of Tarkilar in life. Gutterrut warned Tark not to play around with vampirism and after his experiments killed him, Gutterrut stayed on just to torment his old master. Sensing his increasing insanity, Gutterrut turned himself invisible and spent his days pretending to be the undead gnoll-priest lost conscious, and continually berated and belittled him.

When Triel gave a Wand of Control Water to Tarkilar to guard, Gutterrut stole it and then drove the gnoll mad by telling him he had lost the treasure and that Triel would torture him if he didn’t find it.

When the Moonhowlers arrived in Tarkliar’s lair, they easily defeated the poor beast and then captured Gutterrut. Kenric stuffed the creature into a bag of holding so it could not gate back to its home plane and then handed the creature over to the wizards of the Bluecrater Academy for study. Gutterrut now spends his days in misery, trapped within a copper pentacle and forced to answer questions about Baator, The Grey Wastes and the Abyss to hopelessly clueless old finger-wigglers.
